Everyone Forgets this Vital Part of Goal Setting
Most people know that setting goals is a vital step to achieving anything worthwhile.
And, some people even know how to correctly set mathematical and process-oriented goals.
But there’s an important part of goal setting everyone forgets.
It's never about what you're willing to give to reach your goals.
It always comes down to what you're willing to give up.
Are you willing to give up an extra hour of sleep to work out in the morning?
Are you willing to give up the bag of chips for the healthy alternative?
Are you willing to give up Netflix every night to work on your business?
Are you willing to give up buying the chips you just can't resist?
Are you willing to give up the weekly happy hours to take an online course?
Are you willing to give up buying designer clothes to invest for retirement?
If you really think about it, the things you would be giving up to pursue your goals are often minimal and reversible while the goals you're forgoing by not giving up these things are meaningful and irreversible.
You're probably not going to look back in 10 years and wish you had slept an extra hour every day or watched that Netflix series. And, you could always start those whenever you want.
However, you can never go back and gain the long-term benefits of consistently working out or put in the time working on that business.
What are you willing to give up for your goals?
